The old testament is FULL of promises of one who will come and save the world from ourselves. It's a beautiful story of his patience and deep love for the nation of Israel and us.There is a cycle of sin and rebellion, yet a promise of one who would save us from it all. The Old Testament is finished with 400 years of silence. Can you imagine? Being promised redemption, having God with you in the desert in a cloud by day and fire by night. Thus far he is being so vocal with Israel. Prophet after prophet has told them of this Savior who will come redeem them, lost and hopeless. Then SILENCE. Nothing. They waited and waited with expectant hope that the Lord would be faithful. Then one night this sweet little baby came to a woman who was told by an angel she would conceive through the Holy Spirit. The night Jesus was born the prophesy of the Old Testament was fulfilled. Not only that hope was born, our Savior was finally here! It all hit me randomly this year when I was listening to O Come O Come Emmanuel. The line that struck my heart was "ransom captive Israel". That's exactly what he did!! It's beautiful, it's humbling, it's life changing...Santa means nothing. Presents mean nothing. Stockings mean nothing. He's had been promised, we were waiting. It's all about this big perfect holy God, humbling himself into a tiny baby, breaking 400 years of silence and fulfilling the prophesy. He was here. Its beautiful and the true meaning of Christmas. Be still and know he is God.

I realize some of you may be thinking- what a cheeseball, she put up a picture of Jesus in a manger. For whatever reason this just helped make what happened that night a reality.
